Clubs Week Fall 2013 - Become a YR Member!

Hello everyone!

Clubs week is fast approaching and will be held on September 16 - 20 from 9-5pm at the North (by DQ) and South (by SU office) Courtyard of Mac Hall. We will have our table set up on the following dates and locations:

Wednesday (Sept 18): Table 76 (South Courtyard)
Friday (Sept 20): Table 33 (North Courtyard) 

Come learn more about the club and our upcoming events, meet some of your executives, and buy a membership for only 5 dollars! Club membership gains you entry to our Interdisciplinary Research Forum (IRF)!

As an opportunity to get more involved with UCSYR, and get to know the executive members, our Winter MEET ‘n’ GREET is:

This includes:

•  7:30 PM: A brief summary of the plans UCSYR has outlined for this semester, and a SHORT WORKSHOP on summer studentship opportunities (AIHS, NSERC, USRP, and PURE)

Undergraduate Research Symposium - Abstracts due soon!

Hello Young Researchers,

I hope your week has gone well so far, what with midterms and the cold weather hanging around our shoulders. Nevertheless, I have some good news for all you researchers out there that will hopefully make a bright spot in your week.

There is an exciting opportunity happening on Thursday, November 29. It will be the SU's 7th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and you are all invited to present any research you have conducted during the summer months or earlier.

Deadlines for abstract submission are due on October 29th so be sure to take advantage of this great opportunity to showcase your research and meet other researchers from several faculties around campus. Several prizes are to be awarded to the best posters so be sure to apply!

Even if you haven't done any research in the past, this is a good stepping stone for discovering what types of research you are interested in, finding ways to get involved, meet other like-minded individuals, and learn the latest discoveries in a number of disciplines.

2nd Annual Interdisciplinary Research Forum (IRF) - October 6, 2012

IMPT: OCTOBER 6TH (Saturday): INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH FORUM


Hello everyone!

We are excited to hold our second annual Interdisciplinary Research Forum (IRF) on October 6th (Saturday) from 10am - 6pm at Cassio A/B and Escalus in Mac Ewan Conference and Events Centre at the University of Calgary. Registration starts at 9:15am and food (lunch, snacks, and coffee) will be provided!

Go to our IRF website at https://sites.google.com/site/ucirf2013/ to register, see our lists of speakers, and learn more about the event! Membership is required to attend and can be purchased for only $5. We will be selling memberships throughout the days before the event so be sure to purchase one beforehand as we will not be selling them at the door!

We will also be having a bake sale to help fund the event. Come by to support the IRF, grab some yummy treats, and buy your membership for IRF and other UCSYR club event admissions! These sales will be held on the following days from 10am to 2pm by Hippocrates at the Health Sciences Centre:

**Monday October 1st
**Wednesday October 3rd

We will also have a table / booth where you can sign up for the IRF and buy membership at Mac Hall on Main Campus from 10am - 4pm on October 1 - 5 (Monday to Friday) so be sure to stop by!

For everyone that didn't attend our first IRF, it is a one-day conference with the intent of exposing undergraduate students to a wide variety of research opportunities at the University of Calgary, with a special focus on encouraging communication and collaboration across different fields such as those in the arts and sciences. This will be a great chance to network with professors and your peers from several disciplines and learn more about the different types of research work being done on campus. Be sure not to miss out on this fantastic opportunity!

This event is jointly hosted by the University of Calgary Society of Young Researchers (UCSYR) and now the Students of the Arts and Science Honours Academy (SASHA).
