UCSYR, or University of Calgary Society of Young Researchers is a SU-sanctioned student group on campus founded in the summer of 2011. The purpose of this club is to assist in the development of young minds by introducing students to research.

Below is a compilation of both internal (University-based) and external agencies that provide funding for undergraduate summer research projects. The list is not complete and students are encouraged to search for other sources.  

AIHS SUMMER STUDENTSHIPS  
"These AIHS summer studentships offer motivated students with exceptional academic records an opportunity to participate in medical or health research in Alberta during the summer months. The award is meant to encourage students to consider pursuing formal training and a career in health research. The award consists of a stipend only. NSERC UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH AWARD (USRA) SUMMER STUDENTSHIPS 
"NSERC USRA summer studentships are meant to stimulate an undergraduate student's interest in research in the natural sciences and engineering. They are also meant to encourage undergraduate students to undertake graduate studies and pursue a research career in these fields. If you would like to gain research work experience that complements your studies in an academic setting, these awards can provide you with financial support through your host university. Supervisor must hold an active NSERC research grant." This is an online application for 4-months only.

MARKIN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH PROGRAM (USRP) IN HEALTH & WELLNESS 
"The USRP is a unique program designed specifically for undergraduate students from the U of C who are interested the possibilities that lie in research. They aim to introduce undergraduate students to a world of research that they may not have previously experienced.  They strive to provide U of C students with the support and guidance necessary to ensure a positive research experience for each participant while encouraging them to learn and discover all aspects of the research process."

PROGRAM FOR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE (PURE)   
"PURE awards are meant to benefit University of Calgary students at any stage of their undergraduate program, and applications from students in the early stages of their program are strongly encouraged." This is an online application.

ALBERTA HEALTH SERVICES UNDERGRADUATE SUMMER STUDENTS
"Calgary Laboratory Services offer a limited number of undergraduate summer studentships on a competitive basis to well motivated students with records or exceptional academic performance. This is an opportunity to participate directly in medical/health research in Calgary during the summer months (May to August). The intent of the program is to encourage such students to consider formal training and a career in medical/health research."
